Case Study UI/UX : 02TvSeries
Before I start with the whole design process, let me give you a run-through the previous week. I had a project deleted(enough headache) and even had to endure the insults being lashed at me(quite controversial) because of the said project which was meant to be my assessment. It was therefore required of me to make another one.

What should I do this time? How can I make this in less than 4 days while juggling classes and design? How will I do this now that I have no access to internet?
All these were thoughts I had in my head while trying to figure out what exactly to do.

Boy 1 : I heard the new episodes are out
Boy 2 : Yes, I would download them on 02TvSeries with Night Plan.
Boy 1: Let me know when you have, I need them too.

Let me play something from Spotify to pass the time.
**Opens Spotify and admires the interface before finally selecting something.
Wait, why don’t I merge this interface with 02TvSeries’ ? Is it even possible? Am I even ready for this? Let’s see!
Overview
02TvSeries is a platform for downloading popular TV series which are restricted to paid broadcasting services like Netflix, Hulu, etc.
Literally, it is a website you go to download series because you don’t have an account or cannot afford to pay for the subscription that the media outlets offer.
The website can be seen as one with few emphasis on design, more like one created using HTML and CSS.
Goals
- Redesign the UI interface, thereby making it attractive and user friendly.
- Give it a similar look and feel like Spotify’s
- Improve the user experience.
Problem Approach
I realized that the website is just meant for downloads and a lot of ads are loaded on it, this makes for the low satisfaction derived by the average consumer. The website has more of HTML and CSS tags just to make the site functional and running. It just doesn't call for interaction.
Realizing this, I figured that the website isn’t put to its maximum use and a lot of revenue can be gotten from it, if effectively managed.
User research is quite important in the design phase, and efforts were made to seek opinions and reactions to how a Spotify-themed video download website would be.
Sketches
Not a single sketch was made, as the blueprint and layout were clear and understood. Even though there were modifications as time goes, I felt a sketch would have helped.
Design Process
I make use of different tools for my design process. They include Adobe Xd, Invision Studio and Figma. But, I prefer to use Adobe Xd as it’s a tool I’ve gotten used to and I can easily make my prototypes with it. The need to switch between different tools to create the prototypes have been eliminated.
Final Design
A couple of features have been included to the new design. They include:
- User Account
- Different resolution downloads for premium subscribers
- An settings feature to fine-tune experience to the user’s needs.
- A rating system based on IMDb’s reviews.
Overall
This is quite an interesting project as many things had to be remodeled and also put into place. I feel I can improve on the work done, but time constraint and issues such as poor electricity supply and no access to internet has been a limiting factor.
